Dr. Mohamed AlKuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, revealed that a threat actor identified as rose87168 claimed responsibility for a breach affecting Oracle Cloud’s Single Sign-On (SSO) and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) systems. This breach reportedly resulted in the exposure of six million customer records globally, including sensitive user password data. The impact of this cyber incident is far-reaching, with an estimated 140,000 entities worldwide affected. Within the UAE alone, 30 government organizations and 13 private entities were directly impacted, along with other critical institutions.
In response to this large-scale cyber threat, the UAE activated emergency cybersecurity protocols in coordination with relevant authorities. The Cybersecurity Council emphasized the need for heightened vigilance and urged organizations to strengthen their cybersecurity frameworks.
