The UAE’s national cybersecurity systems have successfully mitigated cyberattacks targeting 634 government and private entities, preventing the potential leakage of sensitive data from critical sectors. The UAE Cybersecurity Council confirmed that these incidents were addressed using global best practices, reinforcing the country’s commitment to maintaining a robust and resilient digital infrastructure. These attacks targeted both government and private organizations, emphasizing the growing need for advanced security measures to protect national and corporate digital assets.

Dr. Mohamed AlKuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, revealed that a threat actor identified as rose87168 claimed responsibility for a breach affecting Oracle Cloud’s Single Sign-On (SSO) and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) systems. This breach reportedly resulted in the exposure of six million customer records globally, including sensitive user password data. The impact of this cyber incident is far-reaching, with an estimated 140,000 entities worldwide affected. Within the UAE alone, 30 government organizations and 13 private entities were directly impacted, along with other critical institutions.

In response to this large-scale cyber threat, the UAE activated emergency cybersecurity protocols in coordination with relevant authorities. The Cybersecurity Council emphasized the need for heightened vigilance and urged organizations to strengthen their cybersecurity frameworks. Businesses and government agencies have been advised to proactively enhance their defensive mechanisms, implement stringent access controls, monitor digital systems for unusual activity, and report any suspicious cyber threats. These measures are crucial to mitigating risks posed by increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks that continue to evolve in complexity and scale.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the critical importance of proactive cybersecurity strategies in safeguarding sensitive data and ensuring the integrity of digital systems. As cyber threats become more advanced, organizations must adopt best security practices, invest in cutting-edge threat intelligence, and foster a culture of cybersecurity awareness. The UAE's swift response to this cyber incident highlights the nation's commitment to digital security and its readiness to tackle emerging threats in the cyber landscape.
