May 26 / Nayanika

In a significant move to bolster cybersecurity and support victims of cybercrime, Rajasthan has inaugurated its first 'Cyber Support Center' at the Jaipur Police Commissionerate. This initiative, operated by a Mumbai-based NGO and financially supported by the Kogta Foundation, aims to provide comprehensive assistance to individuals affected by cyber threats.

The center offers free psychological counseling, legal guidance, and technical support to victims of cybercrimes, including online harassment, cyberbullying, and financial fraud. It also focuses on promoting cyber wellness through educational initiatives, training programs, and awareness campaigns, working closely with schools, colleges, and government institutions.

According to officials, Rajasthan reports nearly 3,000 cybercrime cases annually, with significant portions related to financial crimes, UPI fraud, and social media issues. Over the past three years, victims have lost approximately ₹1,581 crores to cyber fraud, though police efforts have managed to recover ₹676 crores.

The establishment of this center is a proactive step towards addressing the psychological and emotional impacts of cybercrimes and enhancing the state's cybersecurity infrastructure.
