Gujarat has taken a significant leap forward in combating cybercrime and enhancing public service delivery through the launch of two innovative digital platforms and a mobile application. On May 14, 2025, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel introduced the Cyber Crime Refund Portal, "Tera Tujhko Arpan," and the i-Pragati portal, alongside the "Unfreeze" mobile app, aiming to streamline processes related to cybercrime incidents and bolster transparency in law enforcement operations.
The "Tera Tujhko Arpan" portal is designed to expedite the refund process for victims of financial cybercrimes. Notably, it allows individuals to register complaints and track the status of their refunds in real-time, even without filing a First Information Report (FIR). Complementing this, the "Unfreeze" mobile application empowers citizens to reactivate bank accounts that were frozen due to unauthorized transactions linked to cybercrime, eliminating the need for in-person visits to police stations.
In addition, the i-Pragati portal (Investigation Progress Report through Automatically Generated Accurate and Timely Information) has been launched to provide timely and accurate updates on the progress of criminal investigations. This system automates notifications to complainants at critical stages, including FIR registration, panchnama, arrest, and chargesheet filing, thereby enhancing transparency and keeping citizens informed throughout the investigative process.
Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi, highlighted that under the new policy, Gujarat Police has successfully unfrozen approximately 225,000 bank accounts across the country. The policy stipulates that only the amount involved in the suspicious transaction will be frozen, rather than the entire account balance, ensuring fairness for account holders.
These initiatives underscore Gujarat's commitment to leveraging technology to enhance citizen services, promote transparency, and set a precedent for other states in addressing the evolving challenges of cybercrime.
