UP Government Strengthens Cybersecurity for Cooperative Banks

Jun 8 / Nayanika

In a significant move to modernize and secure Uttar Pradesh's cooperative banking system, the state government has announced a major cybersecurity upgrade for the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Bank Limited and 50 district cooperative banks. This initiative aims to fortify digital defenses, ensuring safe and transparent transactions for customers across the state.

Leading technology firms TCS and Wipro will spearhead the implementation, providing cutting-edge solutions for data protection, server management, and cyber-attack prevention. Additionally, NABARD will offer technical guidance, training, and financial assistance, reinforcing the security framework.

Beyond infrastructure enhancements, the government is launching a statewide cyber awareness campaign to educate customers on fraud prevention, secure banking practices, and reporting mechanisms. These efforts will be conducted through bank branches, gram panchayats, and digital platforms.

To support the rollout, the state has allocated ₹10 crore for the 2025–26 financial year, covering technical upgrades, staff training, and cybersecurity awareness initiatives. This investment is expected to boost public trust, leading to higher deposits and increased credit distribution.
