On July 3, Ingram Micro, one of the world’s largest IT distribution and cloud services companies fell victim to a major ransomware attack that forced its internal systems and public websites offline. The disruption left customers across multiple regions unable to place orders, while employees reportedly lost access to key internal platforms, halting day-to-day operations.
The outage became apparent when Ingram Micro’s primary domain, ingrammicro.com, began redirecting users to a generic “access restricted” page hosted by Akamai, or to a basic maintenance message, signaling widespread system unavailability.
Ingram Micro responded swiftly by isolating affected infrastructure, engaging cybersecurity experts, and notifying relevant law enforcement agencies. A formal apology was issued to customers and partners, with the company affirming that restoring operational continuity remains its highest priority.
As a critical global supplier of hardware, software, logistics, cloud platforms, and IT education, the scale of the incident underscores the growing risk ransomware poses to integrated technology ecosystems.
